Snow!

Today it finally snowed!!! I am so excited because that makes it feel a lot more like Christmas. It is very pretty!
Because of the weather I got to leave my physics class at the public school early, and it occurred to me that snow days don't really exist for homeschoolers. Our whole class was really excited to leave after only two classes. I came home and did all of my school :P That is not to say homeschoolers don't get random days off, but snow really doesn't effect us at all! You just have to stay home and do school as usual.
I really can't wait for the winter solstice because I am really tired of it all ready being dark at 5pm.
This Sunday the sunday school children preformed a very short/simple skit about Saint Lucia. It is difficult organize all of the kids and put them in a costume and get them to act, but they were very cute! We had about 5 Saint Lucias, 12 star boys, and 15 soldiers.
It has been almost exactly a year since we brought Levi home! He has been so perfect for us! Here is a picture of him from last Christmas.
Our tree also went up and it is perfect. There are very few things quite as perfect as sitting on the couch in front of the christmas tree, drinking tea, listening to christmas music, and watching it snow.
Thats all for now.

6. Little brothers give the best hugs!
7. Why haven't I done this in forever? Its fun!

9. Christmas trees are the best! I can't wait till we get ours!
10. The house is really quiet, I should turn on Christmas music!

Update

So I realize that its been ages since I posted and I am very sorry!
A lot has been going on and I keep having to add on to this post but hopefully it will get posted with this latest addition.
One of the big things that has happened to me since I last posted was that a qualified for HOSA nationals in Orlando Florida and thanks to peoples generosity both Engineer sis and I will be attending! We are so excited! At the state level I participated in 2 events, one was a knowledge test and one was a nursing assisting event. Both required a written test and the nursing assisting required a practical test also.  I took both written test at the beginning of March and the practical was at the competition. Because I had taken the written test for the knowledge test before state I forgot that had even participated in that event.  So I was very shocked when I placed 2nd!
We have also started practicing for the musical for the local HS homeschoolers. We are doing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor dream Coat and I am the sphinx/Queen Victoria. My solo is very eastern sounding which I am very excited about.
We had our last day of Sunday school last week. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to teach these kids this year they have been so amazing! It was the sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women which is special to me because my name Saint is Mary Magdelene I brought my Icon to show the kids and they were very excited!
This is from the summer after she was born.

Last Sunday was also my dear Rabbits birthday! She is 10 and I can't believe it! She has an insane talent for driving me up the wall. But she is the best rabbit ever and always has been! She is so big and beautiful. Lots of Love <3

Thats all for now.

Being a twin

I thought I would write a little bit about being a twin. One of the first questions most people ask us when they find out we are twins is what is it like to be a twin and our response has always been the same: we were never not twins. It is just part of our life, we are so used to it we don't even understand what they mean by that question.
We are best friends and always have been. We never used to think about each other as friends let alone best friends. At some point it occurred to me that we really were friends and I don't know why it took me so long to realize.
We have so many inside jokes that I can't even imagine counting them. Sometimes at dinner when somebody says something, we just look at each other and burst out laughing, confusing everybody else which just makes us laugh more.
I sometimes cry just because she is upset and crying. We tell each other everything. We finish each others sentences. We know exactly how to push one another's buttons. We fight! Yes you read that right, we fight a lot. But we can never stay mad at each other for more than 1/2 an hour. Sometimes when I am mad at her I try not to talk to here and I always fail within 5 minutes.

But one of the most important things about us as twins is we are different from each other. I am more outgoing and love hangingout with tons of people, she would rather spend one on one time. She understands and fixes things I don't even know exist. We have different ambitions, she wants to go into engineering and I want to be a nurse midwife. We absolutely do not want to go to the same college. Because of our differences we work well together, we are a team, and we are always there to support one another.
Love You Sus!

16!

On Thursday it was one of my girlies birthday and we surprised her! I think that was the first time we have ever successfully done that!  Katie has been one of my best friends for at least 9 years. We met in 1st grade at our homeschool co-op. We bonded over not liking PE and drawing with crayons and have been friends ever since. We have laughed endlessly together, cried together, and basically grown-up together. I am so blessed to have her in my life! She is there when ever I am having a bad day or when I am super excited about something.

You are so amazing Katie and I love ya so much! I hope you have a wonderful year and you enjoy being 16!

This week: :)

My sunday school class had a lot of fun with our project. It may not have been a raging success but it certainly was a sticky one. I am really enjoying teaching, the kids really brighten up my week!

Sadly we had our last quiz bowl of the season :( but we placed second so its all good! Meanwhile science bowl is swiftly approaching. I am not entirely sure how I feel about it!

Engineer and I enjoyed going "to visit" the B-H's this past weekend. We had lots of fun lounging on the couch watching the olympics, visiting the humane society, shopping at the antique store, and eating a yummy lunch out.

My advanced chemistry class at the public school is very interesting. It is very challenging for me, and I really like having to work hard. But my favorite part about this class is the other students. At the beginning of the school year when I started regular chemistry I was looking forward to making new friends, I was very disappointed. I got there and was in the middle of a group of people that had known each other since kindergarten, nobody was mean but they were all very self involved. So I went into my second semester expecting to have the same experience, and man was I surprised! They are really great and I love the class.

I decided it was time to update the look of my blog in honor of the fact that spring will be here eventually. I hope you like it!

Thats all for now.

:P update

So life has been a tiny bit insane! Shark had his birthday this last week he is 13 which should just not be right! He is a real blast and he has started to come to more things with the engineer and I so we are having tons of fun! You're the best!

I have been preparing for piano festival... This will be my 6th year participating and I find that completely hard to believe. I love playing the piano at home for myself but playing for anybody makes me incredibly nervous, its crazy that this is the sixth time I have pushed myself to preform for a judge!

We have had a few more quiz bowls this semester and done very well in all of them. I am so excited about how well we have done. I really truly love working with my teammates, we work so well together, we help each other find the answer, when we get frustrated somebody will say something that will make you laugh and feel better, and we just have tons of fun. Some of my favorite memories are from quiz bowls and I am so grateful to as a homeschooler to have this wonderful opportunity.

Along similar lines we are preparing for science bowl competition. It is full of rules and strategies that I don't really understand, but somehow during practice our freshman/sophomore team was only a few points behind the junior/senior team.
I have also taken over the preK/kindergarten sunday school class which has been a lot of fun! The kids are great, but man do I wish we had more space! The majority of the class are boys and after they sat relatively still in church the last thing they want to do is sit still for me, I have gotten very good at managing to come up with games that involve movement with out running into the walls! I have a more involved project planned for next week and I hope to have pictures to share.

Ratface aka Holly

So in my previous post I mentioned that our dog had died, we are all very sad and shocked about it. Our dear Holly dog had bone cancer that progressed very rapidly, it was 6 weeks from her first symptoms to the day we brought her to the vet to put her down. She was a precious lab who behaved like a puppy till the last week of her life. Everyone in the family has said that she was their dog which shows how much she was truly a family dog. The last 6 months of her life she had become closer and closer to me, spending a ton of time in my room with me sleeping either in my bed or on the floor next to me. She was a good friend and a companion for me. It has been a month since we brought her to be put down and I am not missing her any less.
It was a hard way to begin preparing for Christmas, we had a gap in our family that we needed to fill. So despite dad's protestations that we would never have four dogs again we began to search. The Tuesday after our dearest Holly left we came home with another one: Levi. He is a sweet lab mix (we suspect that he is part great dane) that we all fell in love with, though I do admit that I was skeptical at first.  He is secretly a wookie at heart, he loves tho yodel when he is bored!
Please do forgive my prolonged absence and continue to send me reminders to post!
